The Central Illinois Mid-Level Institute (MLI) promotes positive attitudes and teaches strategies designed to improve all areas of life, such as healthy personal and family relationships, positive peer influence, school success, self-esteem and awareness, healthy decision making and the prevention of alcohol and other drug use.

The Central Illinois Mid-Level Institute (MLI) is a fun and interactive leadership
development and alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention program for middle school aged youth
whose range covers 6th grade through freshman.
ANYONE in grades 6–8 is invited to apply as a youth participant. Starting in 2006, MLI will allow youth who
are currently freshman and who previously attended MLI to participate in a special MLI program for freshman
students.
The freshman program will be part of the MLI event where the freshman will participate in all MLI
activities but meet in their own discussion group.
(more info).

This weekend camp gives participants the opportunity to develop their leadership skills through activities such as a low
ropes teams course, workshops, large group presentations, small group discussions and personal goal setting.
MLI is associated with the Illinois Teen Institute (ITI) and Operation Snowball which are award-winning substance
abuse prevention and leadership development programs for youth founded on the idea of affecting others in a positive
way with your skills and knowledge so they in turn can do the same.

Applications for MLI will be available starting the November before the event in hard copy form and online at www.os-iti.org.
There will be a nominal fee to attend MLI (approximately $60) and scholarships may be available.
Volunteer staff applications for teens and adults will also be accepted. Volunteers must be at least a junior in high school
and preference is given to those having previous facilitation experience (i.e. Operation Snowball/Snowflake).
