There are many ways to be part of the wonderful process of ITI!
The skills at ITI are not just for teenagers either.
Adults can join in too! Here are some of the things that you can do at ITI.

  • Youth Participant
  • Adult Participant
  • PALS
  • Volunteer Staff
YOUTH PARTICIPANTS. This group makes up the majority of ITI. They are the teenagers who come to ITI willing to learn all the leadership skills, healthy choices, community and social issues, and prevention programs. Participants are selected by application.
ADULT PARTICIPANT. For those adults that are interested in prevention programs and ITI but may not wish to volunteer as staff, the adult participant program is available. Adults go through a program almost identical to what youths do. This gives them an opportunity to see what happens at ITI and its impact on teenagers. Adult participants are chosen by application.
PEERS WITH ADVANCED LEADERSHIP SKILLS is a program designed for previous participants who wish to return to ITI to learn more about leadership and teamwork. PALS is broken into two years, PALS 1 and PALS 2. Each program has a specific skills and goals to learn during the week. PALS must go through an interview process before being selected. They are on a selected first come, first serve basis.
VOLUNTEER STAFF. For those people 18 and older with a high school diploma, enjoyment and knowledge of working with youth, and a desire to help others in the prevention process may volunteer their time at ITI as staff members. Staff have the opportunity to interact with participants on many levels. Their main tasks are to lead discussion and community groups, monitor dorm rooms, and participate in free-time activities. Staff are chosen by interview and application by alumni staff. After a couple of years with ITI, staff members have the opportunity to try and move to higher staff positions which involve leading participants as well as other staff.
