E.J. “Edge” Bassette is the youngest of nine children, grew up in Chicago's Ida B. Wells housing projects. During his formative years, he was engulfed in the violence and poverty that are the harsh realities of life in the inner city. E.J. earned his way through college by becoming a football walk-on turned three-year starter, all conference standout record holder. His story is cautionary, inspiring, emotional, and thought-provoking. No matter your circumstances, race or gender, you will be moved by the poignancy of these stories and leave with a feeling of change and empowerment. E.J. embodies the characteristics and experiences that have contributed to his success. He passionately shares his beliefs in his two books, Silent Cry, a true story of courage and the desire to succeed and Practice What You Preach, deals with the 10 principles needed to take responsibility for your own success.
