Darrell “Coach D” Andrews is known worldwide as America’s Passion Coach. He is the author of several books including, How To Find Your Passion And Make A Living At It, The Purpose Living Teen—A Teen’s Guide To Living Your Dreams and Believing The HYPE-Seven Keys To Motivating Students of Color. His “Five Garbage Bags and a Dream”
story in Chicken Soup for the African American Soul is an inspiring story that shares the role education played in Darrell pursuing his passion.
Coach D knows personally about overcoming challenges and becoming a leader. As the son of a high school dropout and a single mother on welfare, he became a three-sport all-star in high school, the captain of his college football team, a campus leader and the first in his family to graduate from college. This is an amazing feat considering that when he arrived on his college campus, he was not registered to attend, nor did he have the money to pay for college. But his passion for more out of life compelled him to pack everything he owned into five garbage bags and hop on a bus to a city where he had never been with a one-way ticket and 42 dollars in his pocket. As a result of this bold move, he received his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Cheyney University of PA.
After graduation, he was a prospect for the Philadelphia Eagles and the San Francisco 49ers. He eventually became a top sales executive and field trainer for Fortune 500 Company-Abbott Laboratories. Now, he has dedicated his life to helping others develop as leaders and reach their fullest potential in life. He is a highly sought after youth and education speaker throughout the USA, Canada and the Caribbean.
Most importantly, he is happily married and the father of three wonderful children.
